Delivering New Beginnings: How ANC is helping Australians recover from domestic violence and hardship

Every day, ANC delivery professionals criss-cross the country, delivering everything from tools to technology, whitegoods to furniture and pet food to gifts. But along the way, we see something far more important: the real lives and stories of the people we serve.

Sometimes, behind the doors we knock on, there’s more than a need for a delivery. There’s a need for hope, for safety, and a fresh start.

That’s what inspired Delivering New Beginnings - our new social initiative focused on helping Australians recovering from domestic violence and hardship.

At ANC, we believe our role goes beyond the last mile. It’s about showing up where we’re needed most, delivering more than just parcels and packages – and instead delivering help, opportunity, and a path toward a brighter future.

Like many great ideas, this initiative started with a simple question from our Executive Leadership Team: What more can we do to help Australians in need?

It wasn’t just about donating money or time - it was about using our position and resources to make a tangible difference. As a national business with an extensive network of partners, clients, and a passionate team, we realised we had the ability to bring together people, organisations, and resources in ways that could truly transform lives.

From the beginning, we wanted to focus on causes that often fly under the radar. While some charities and initiatives receive significant funding and support, others - like those helping domestic violence survivors, tackling youth homelessness, or supporting indigenous communities - are often underfunded despite the critical role they play in our society.

Domestic violence survivors emerged as a key focus for Delivering New Beginnings. These individuals often face immense challenges in rebuilding their lives after leaving unsafe environments. They need more than just physical safety; they need tools, resources, and community support to start over. This is where we knew ANC could step in to help.

A cornerstone of Delivering New Beginnings is our partnership with ReLove - a charity that restores rescued furniture and homewares, and donates and delivers it to families who are starting afresh after domestic violence or hardship.

The wonderful team at ReLove don't just help Australians in need, they also save tonnes of furniture from being sent to landfill each year - further aligning with ANC and our sustainability policy.

This partnership highlights the strength of collaboration and the potential of bringing together businesses and community organisations. One example of this collaboration in action is our recent work with Hilti, one of our generous clients.

During a visit to a Hilti service station, our team noticed a collection of tools marked for donation. This discovery sparked a conversation that led to something extraordinary: Hilti’s donation of thousands of dollars worth of tools to ReLove.

These tools are now being used to restore furniture to a high standard, ensuring that the items provided to families are both beautiful and functional.

ANC’s role in this story was about connection. We were the bridge, bringing together a client with something to donate (Hilti) with an organisation that uses donations to help Australians in need every day. This is the heart of Delivering New Beginnings: joining the dots to create a wonderful community of support, and amplifying the impact of generosity. 

While many social initiatives gain momentum during the holiday season, we want Delivering New Beginnings to have a lasting impact throughout the year.

Different initiatives will roll out at different times, each addressing specific needs within our communities. In January, for example, our internal project team will spend time at ReLove to gain a deeper understanding of their operations. By immersing ourselves in their work, we can identify other ways to support their mission and explore additional causes to champion in 2025 and beyond.

This is just the start. We see Delivering New Beginnings as a dynamic, evolving program that will adapt to the needs of the communities we serve. There are countless opportunities to make a difference, and we’re committed to exploring them all.

At its core, Delivering New Beginnings isn’t just about the communities we aim to support, it’s also about inspiring our own team.

We believe that doing good is contagious. When our employees see the impact of their work - whether it’s through facilitating donations, coordinating deliveries, or simply knowing they’re part of a company that cares - it creates a sense of pride and purpose.

For team members who may not have the financial means to contribute to charities, this initiative provides an opportunity to make a meaningful difference simply by being part of ANC. Our internal project team is already brainstorming ideas for future initiatives. Whether it’s expanding our reverse logistics program to support additional charities, hosting community events, or developing new ways to use our resources for good - the possibilities are endless.
