ANC Diversity Day: different backgrounds, common purpose

At ANC, we believe diversity makes us stronger.
Last week, we brought that belief to life by celebrating ANC Diversity Day, held alongside the broader spirit of Harmony Day. It was an opportunity for our teams across the country to come together, not just to recognise our differences, but to embrace them.
Our sites were filled with colour, conversation, and connection. Tables were lined with dishes from around the world, each one offering a glimpse into someone’s background, family traditions, and personal journey. Clothing was vibrant, varied and fun - nothing like the different shades of grey you normally see in a corporate office. It was a reminder that sometimes the simplest moments - sharing food, asking questions, listening to stories - can create the strongest sense of belonging.
But beyond the festivities, Diversity Day gave us space to reflect.
Across teams, people opened up about what diversity means to them personally. For some, it was about cultural identity and heritage. For others, it was about lived experience, different ways of thinking, or the unique perspectives shaped by their individual journeys. These conversations highlighted that diversity isn’t one-dimensional. It’s not just about where we come from, but how we think, how we solve problems, and how we show up for one another every day.
At ANC, this diversity is more than something we acknowledge - it’s something we rely on.
In a business built on connection, coordination, and customer experience, having a workforce rich in different perspectives allows us to think more creatively, adapt more quickly, and deliver better outcomes for our clients. It helps us understand the diverse communities we serve and ensures that our approach is not only efficient, but empathetic - and human!
That’s why we often say diversity is our superpower.
It strengthens our decision-making, challenges our assumptions, and ultimately makes us better at what we do. Whether it’s on the road, in the warehouse, or behind the scenes, it’s our people - and their unique backgrounds and ideas - that makes ANC different.
Diversity Day is not just a standalone moment. It’s a reflection of an ongoing commitment to building an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute. A place where differences are not just accepted, but actively embraced.

As the celebrations wrapped up, one thing was clear: diversity at ANC isn’t just something we celebrate for a day. It’s something that shapes who we are, and how we operate, every day.
