What do you do at ANC?
I am the Recruitment and Compliance Officer in Victoria. My role is to support the Recruitment team which involves everything from on-boarding, work entitlements, police checks, issuing uniforms and obtaining compliance for new inductees.
Transport career experience?
Prior to joining ANC I was working in ‘blue collar’ recruitment for one of the world’s largest distribution companies. When COVID hit, I was made redundant. I began searching for roles I could do to keep me busy. I heard that ANC was recruiting Owner Drivers for small deliveries, so after meeting with the recruitment team, I secured the role and the next day I started delivering for a major client. Wow what a whirlwind experience that was. My time as a driver was short as I quickly moved into my current role, but the experience has given me a lot of empathy for our team out on the road.
Favourite part of your job?
I love working with an absolutely amazing team. Starting a new role at the beginning of COVID you could say ‘was a great learning curve.’ There were many challenges like recruiting record numbers without meeting face to face, on-boarding while maintaining physical distancing, all the while in lockdown, I feel it has very quickly made me more competent in my role which is a great thing.
How would you describe ANC if it was a person?
Definitely a hard worker. One that is a team player, caring and fun to be around.
What do you like to do when you are not working?
Spending time with the family. My partner and I recently purchased land so some of our time is spent searching the internet and Pinterest for ideas for the building design, interiors and layouts. Its a time vortex once you get started.
How do you help ANC deliver extraordinary experiences?
By having a good work ethic, being reliable, friendly, wanting to be part of the team and just getting the job done – whatever it takes.
